Moncage

Moncage is a cute puzzle and story game where you explore a world inside a cube. The twist though is that some parts of the cube can interact with other parts when you look from a certain angle. Each face of the cube is its own perspective on the world inside, and while the scenes you see may be random at first, eventually you’ll learn the ways that they all connect together, both in the story, and literally.

There is a story here, but it’s told through scenes and photos, and I’d be lying if I said I personally understood it. I played this game on the Steam Deck in bed over 3 or 4 nights when I was feeling down, and just immersing myself in this beautiful puzzle box was more than enough to act like a pick me up. This game is extremely relaxing.

There are a couple difficult sections in the game, but there is an in-game hint system that provides directions on what you might want to try doing, and like The Room, the hints start off as a vague direction, before subsequent hints giving more detail. There is also a button that can highlight items of interest, and a setting to toggle this between any interactable item, only items that connect with eachother, or to disable it completely. Bare in mind though that it’ll highlight any interactable items in the scene, regardless of how relevant it is to the current step of the puzzle.

Don’t really need to say more, this is the kind of game where most of it is just the experience and feeling.
