Gorogoa

A stunningly hand-drawn story puzzle game about moving the pieces of the world around to find new interactions.

You’re just gonna have to take my word on this one. If there is a sale on (which there should be at the time of publishing,) definitely pick this game up and give it a spin. The game is about an hour long, but in that time it is able to tell a beautiful story without uttering a single word. A story about growth and change, or perhaps one about community, or is it about the dragon that appears occasionally while you’re trying to find your way. Thats the true beauty of a work of art. The game may take only an hour to complete, but there are chapters, scenes, or individual panels, that you can get lost in for hours more. Cutscenes that stop to have a deep conversation with you, even long after they are completed.

The main puzzle mechanic is navigating around the individual worlds of the 4 panels you have access to, zooming into and out of small vignettes of life, and death, and nature, and humanity, panning around streets and roofs and platforms, up ladders, down stairs, until you find something in one scene that flows smoothly into another. A ladder connecting across space, a tree connecting through time, and when you do, the story advances. I don’t want to give away too much more since the game is only an hour long, so you’re just going to have to pick it up and play it for yourself.
