One Step From Eden

If you’ve ever played a MegaMan Battle Network game and enjoyed the combat of it, then I implore you to pick this game up, as it’s just MMBN battles distilled into the perfect roguelike. Once you’ve picked a starting kit consisting of a weapon, a passive ability, and 4 spells, each battle lets you take a random spell to add to your deck. During battles, your deck is shuffled and automatically draws 2 spells at a time for you to use.

You start the game off as Sapphire, which for players coming from MMBN will probably make for a comfortable transition, as her primary weapon is essentially the Mega Buster, though you can’t charge it unfortunately. It will also give you a one time revive ability that should help you learn the ropes of the game a bit more smoothly.

When you reach the end of the map, you fight one of the other 7 characters in a difficult head to head battle, and at the end gives you the option to spare them to use their ability later on in the run, or kill them to get better loot drops. Then you travel to the next world where the enemies are harder, the loot is better, and the boss is even tougher. Keep at it though and you’ll be able to prevail.

Also pro tip, dont stab the shop keeper, trust me.
