Cult of the Lamb

This game is so cute and adorable and it filled up a Moonlighter shaped hole in my heart that I didn’t even know was there, as well as introducing me to Animal Crossing kinda? I don’t know… All I know is that this scrimblo is adorable and everyone should forefit their earthly posessions to him.

So yeah, this game is a weird hybrid of the kind of dungeon crawling you’d get in Moonlighter or Binding of Issac, but mixed in with a cutesy colony management sim where you gotta keep your furry followers fed and happy so that they can generate experience and do things for you. And this game is adorable! All the NPCs are charming, most of the cult member skins are adorable (though some might be a little bit cursed, such as the crow.) and there is literally a dedicated button you can press to make the player lamb bleat, which gives you invincibility frames what??

Your cult members generate devotion which is essentially cult experience, which you can then use to unlock new buildings for your cult. They also generate experience at your daily sermons which is used to unlock new types of weapons and spells for your crusades. Then when you’re out on your crusades, you can both work towards your greater goal of killing the 4 old gods, while also growing your cult and gathering resources such as materials, food, and bones.

And the combat is so fun and fluid, the dodge roll gives you invincibility through enemies, there are a variety of weapon classes that reward different playstyles, but the game ensures you’re competent with all of them, because at the start of a run, you get given a random weapon and spell. It is possible to change your weapon or spell later on in a run, but you do end up learning all of them.
