A slice-of-life sort of game where you play as the new carpenter in town and have to build up your Pa’s old shop. It starts off very simple, you just explore nearby, get the lay of the land, meet all the nice townsfolk, and gather some basic resources like wood and stone to repair the holes in your house. Then once you have a footing you can take commissions to build stuff for people and earn money, and it goes on from there. If you like Stardew Valley, this will be down your lane.
In terms of gameplay, you have all the usual RPG Lifesim/Survival stuff, a health bar as well as things that make it go up and down, an inventory limit and chests to store stuff, and a time of day where you should probably get home before it gets too dark out, but the game starts off reasonably enough to ease you into everything that it doesn’t become too much trouble.
The main progression though is upgrading your workshop, money and resources (either scavanged or crafted) can be used to buy more land, or build/upgrade machines that unlock more recipies, and therefore let you fill out harder commissions. But there is also a more tangible in-world progression system, where you fill out story commissions to unlock new areas of the map, and new dungeons to explore.
The devs have made a sequel My Time At Sandrock, but I have not had any experience with the game so can’t say what its about or if its any good.
