Grow: Song of the Evertree

Another life sim, but this one is about gardening. You’re the last of the Everheart Alchemists, a young apprentice trying to figure out if it’s even possible to beat back the Withering that’s destroyed the precious Evertree and silenced the Song of Myora, and after many years of experementing with your trusty partners Book and Coppertop, you finally figure out the recipe for the elusive World Seed, at which point the game begins.

This game has two main gameplay loops. The first is tending to your worlds by digging out withering grass and stinkweeds and planting new trees and flowers in order to reclaim the islands and help them grow. The second is managing the towns that were abandoned as they were taken over by the Withering.

After creating a new world and discovering the song within yourself, you’re able to push back the withering to get access to the meadows dock, and once the docks are cleaned up, people will start to arrive who you can build houses for and set them up in their dream jobs. Restoring the towns like this also allows you to bring back harmony to the regions and push back more Withering. There is also a whole lot of exploration that you can do on the surface to find a whole lot of landmarks, secrets, treasures, and maybe hidden recipes to create perfect worlds.

The resources that you get from the worlds you create can be boiled down by Coppertop into essences, and those essences can be used to create new worlds. This is somewhat required for the town aspect too as besides houses that cost Myora, all the buildings require certain essences to produce, and to start with you might only get access to 10 or so. Creating new seeds using essences you have not only gives you easier access to the essences that were used in creating the seeds, but also gives you access to potentially undiscovered essences in smaller quantities than the seed essences, that can then be used to create new seeds.

If you wanna see something really freaky, create a world with the essences “Wet”, “Spongey” and “Lively” and then prepare to regret your life choices 🙂

As of the time of writing, I’m about half way through cleaning up the withering, and restoring the Evertree, so I don’t know how the story ends, but I’m finding it very fun so far, and it turns out lifesims are very good at producing gender envy so thats fun too.
