Welp, those assholes just broke into your house, trashed the place, and stole your TV remote. Time for this grumpy fox to go wreck shop and get it back. This is a fun little combat platformer with some puzzles in it, think like a Ratchet and Clank game but with slightly less meat, and a lot more grumpy fox.
So when you start, you get a jump and double jump, and eventually the ability to pick up either the Warrior dash, Mage teleport, or Engineer helicopter. Each class has its own use cases but all are equally strong. I personally started off playing Warrior, but very quickly started combining abilities from Warrior and Engineer during my casual playthrough. And that’s the magic of this game: While sure in the introduction you pick a class and get that classes movement and primary weapon, once you reach the hub world, you can spend the coins you collect in each level to buy abilities from all three class skill trees, and you can take any combination of skills from any of the classes.
The story is very simple, and in fact for me on the Deck, the story was actually broken and didn’t show up (since the game is only 2 months old,) but that didn’t really affect my enjoyment of the game because the meat of it is exploring the game’s 9 beautifully crafted levels. Yes, only 9 levels and 4 bosses unfortunately. Trifox is a short game, but that also means it doesn’t overstay it’s welcome. I’d definitely give it a go if you have 6-8 hours spare one weekend.
